Faculty and Postdoctoral Appointments in Cosmology and Particle Astrophysics at Arizona State University

Arizona State University announces a major new initiative in Cosmology and Particle Astrophysics, led by Professors Paul Davies, Lawrence Krauss, and Rogier Windhorst. Beginning in the Fall of 2009 and continuing over the next five years, we anticipate the appointment of up to 8-10 new faculty at the ranks of Full, Associate, and Assistant Professor, and as many postdoctoral research appointments. The School of Earth and Space Exploration invites expressions of interest regarding theoretical, observational, and experimental cosmology, as well as in engineering fields that support cosmology and particle astrophysics. The Department of Physics seeks expressions of interest in the fields of theoretical and experimental particle astrophysics and cosmology.

Joint appointments in both academic units and affiliations with the Beyond Center and the Fulton School of Engineering are possible. Faculty appointments include highly competitive startup packages and state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. Several Prize postdoctoral appointments, renewable for up to 3 years, will also include a research stipend to cover research needs. Areas of current interest include the early universe, physics beyond the standard model, neutrino astrophysics, cosmic rays, quantum cosmology, gravitational waves, extra dimensions, inflation and multiverse models, dark matter, dark energy, large-scale structure, galaxy assembly, stellar evolution, and supermassive black hole growth.
